Email updates

If you join Field Dispatch, the email address you provide is processed by Kit, our email service provider, to manage subscriptions and send requested updates. Registration uses an email confirmation step. Every message includes an unsubscribe option, and we do not add people to the list without their request.

Reader accounts

If you request a login code, your email address is used to send that code through Cloudflare Email Service. The account database stores a normalized email address, verification time, and membership state. It stores a keyed code verifier and a hash of the session token, not the code or token in plaintext. A hashed IP address is used for login-request limits. The sign-in cookie is Secure and HttpOnly and lasts up to 30 days unless you sign out earlier. Reader accounts do not automatically subscribe you to Field Dispatch.

Optional analytics

Google Analytics is used only after you choose “Allow analytics.” It helps us understand aggregate traffic, page views, scroll activity, outbound clicks, and general engagement. Advertising signals and ad-personalisation signals are disabled. If you decline, the analytics script is not loaded. You can change your choice at any time using the “Analytics settings” tab at the bottom of the page.

Technical data

This site does not offer comments. Standard server logs may record technical information such as an IP address, browser type, and access time for security and operations. If analytics is allowed, Google may also process device and usage information under its own privacy terms. Kit may process technical delivery and engagement data for email subscribers.

Editorial corrections

If a published claim needs correction, the goal is to update it visibly—not quietly rewrite the record. Contact us about any correction.
